Best College Values ranked the Randolph College Student Center as the #7 “Most Amazing” student center in the nation—and for good reason.
The Student Center is a perfect place to socialize, study, get a bite to eat, and exercise in a bright, modern setting.
It offers stunning views of Randolph College’s back campus and the Blue Ridge Mountains—whether you are working out on state-of-the-art exercise equipment in the fitness center or relaxing with friends on the exterior deck.
Alice’s E-Cade, an entertainment center, features electronic gaming, pool tables, ping pong, foosball, shuffleboard, and other activities.
In the adjacent glass-enclosed radio booth, you can produce your own radio shows for WWRM, the student radio station, and provide music for campus parties. In Nichols Theatre, you might listen to a lecture one night or watch a movie with friends the next.
The Skeller serves food, coffee, and other drinks throughout the week, including late at night.
Hampson-Gravely Commons is an excellent place for students to socialize and study with plenty of natural light from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The Chandler Student Lounge provides a more private place to relax and enjoy time with other students.
Outside the Student Center, a wraparound deck overlooks back campus and Michels Plaza, a brick amphitheatre with a beautiful fountain.
Parts of the Student Center were built during the construction of Main Hall in the 1890s. Several renovations and additions have occurred over the years.
However, the latest was by far the largest, and allowed Randolph to modernize the space while keeping many historical elements.
The $6 million renovation, which was completed in 2013, was funded entirely by several alumnae and their families who were committed to providing students an extraordinary college experience.
